The Tree of Life has multiple meanings from many different backgrounds and religions. In general it represents Oneness, Family, Spiritual Awakening, Creation, Prosperity, Individuality, Abundance and Groundedness. In the Bible, the Tree of Life represents Eternal life. The tree is from the Garden of Eden and is a perpetually life-giving and sustaining gift to humanity. The branches represent the evolutionary divergence of all living creatures or a personal family tree. The Tree of Life also symbolizes strength, beauty, personal growth and uniqueness. It embodies the interconnectedness of all creation encapsulated in the circle of life. In Norse it is Yggdrasil, the Sacred center of the Nine worlds. In Chinese mythology the tree of life includes a phoenix and dragon representing immortality and rebirth. In Greek mythology, the tree carries golden apples of Gaia. In Islam it is called the Tree of Immortality and also signifies Spiritual growth. In Hebrew the tree of life is Etz Chaim, it is associated with wisdom. It is the central symbol of the Kabbalah, representing the 10 powers of the divine realm. In Mesoamerican cultures, it is considered the World Tree, depicting the four cardinal directions and connecting the Underworld to the Earth and Sky. In Iroquois legend, the world was created from the tree planted on the back of a turtle. In Ojibway it is referred to as Grandmother Cedar or Nookomis Giizhig.
